Peace Abounds

Blessings!

We are sending out a little uplifting love to those who are in need. As we mentioned before we joined a site called Wish Upon A Hero where we can grant wishes of birthday cards & happy mail for children who's parents just can't afford the birthday they wish they could give. We also send uplifting mail to a few adults who are down on their luck at this time and we wish to make them smile. The gifts below are going to 4 deserving kids and 1 loving woman in need.

The kifts below are going to 3 women who are bravely fighting cancer at this moment. We pray that our mail will bring a smile to their faces and let them know that they are truly loved by the FiveOh4 family.

We send our love to everyone!!
May YOU be Joyful
May YOU be Peaceful
May YOU be wrapped in God's Never-Ending Love

Interview w/Secret Agent L

I have had the honor to meet many outstanding beings via the Internet, especially via reading and interacting on blogs. Had I known there was so much support, love, and kindness in blog world I would have joined much sooner. One of the kind souls I'm introducing you to today is finding her bliss by spreading kindness to others. She keeps her identity anonymous(which I love) and she even has affiliate agents joining in on the goodness! She goes by the name Secret Agent L and let me tell you each time I visit her blog I leave smiling. I recently interviewed Secret Agent L for and just could not pass up the opportunity to share her with our podcast listeners. If you've had doubts that kindness does not exist or you've feared doing kind acts out being rejected maybe you can take a page from Secret Agent L's book.

* How did you come up with the idea to begin the Secret Agent L blog?
I have a blogger friend from Texas who had a birthday over the summer. I wanted to send her a little birthday package in honor of her birthday. When I emailed her to ask for her mailing address and to let her know what I wanted to do, she suggested I just do some random act of kindness on her behalf instead. And then she said, "You could call yourself Secret Agent L: Girl Spy and All-Around Swell Chick." Well, needless to say, it stuck. And that's when I decided I would become a secret agent who specialized in anonymous acts of kindness.

*How often do you conduct acts of kindness?
I try to do "missions" at least a couple of times a week, whether it's just leaving little inspirational notes in random places or specific gifts in specific places. My Affiliated Agents (other people around the world interested and participating in their own anyonymous acts of kindness) also try to do missions whenever they can, and then they email me the specifics, which I then post on the site.

* What is the feeling you receive in doing your acts of kindness?
Most of the time I feel really good--like I'm bringing joy to people in a world that so desperately needs it. But sometimes I feel nervous, like someone will find my gift and think to him/herself, "What am I supposed to do with this?" I have to remember that not everyone feels the same way I do about these things.

*how do you deal with doubt or fear if they arise?
I just power through it. I remind myself that I'm doing something from a place of love and kindness: my heart. I remind myself that someone out there--at least one person--is going to really appreciate these acts of kindness. I try to put myself in the shoes of someone else who is struggling, feeling alone, feeling hopeless, overwhelmed, sad, etc. Life is extremely difficult and messy. If I can bring one moment of peace and joy and connectedness, then I've done something good.

* With the world in such an economic slump do you feel we can afford to NOT do these acts of kindness?
As I've said, life is hard and full of struggles. For me to give up a special drink from Starbucks so I can use the money to buy a little pick-me-up for someone else seems such a small, small price to pay for what can potentially (and hopefully) be a significant moment for the recipient.

I came across a quote once that said, "We look forward to the time when the power of love will replace the love of power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace." I think that goes for our world's current economic situation: when we start working with each other, instead of for power, our world might just turn itself around for the better.

* What does joy mean to you?
Stability, connectedness, vulnerability, committment, and trust

* Can you list three of your favorite drops thus far?
1. Making a CD for someone and leaving it outside of an apartment building was really fun. I know I'd be totally stoked if I found that CD!
2. This month's Breast Cancer Awareness missions: particularly the one I did at the Hillman Cancer Center here in Pittsburgh, which is where I go for my appointments with my oncologist and for my mammograms.
3. This past weekend Affiliated Agent V and I did a MAJOR mission at Allegheny General Hospital here in Pittsburgh. I haven't posted it yet, but I'll do so soon. It was a busy day! And it felt so good to leave little treats at a place like a hospital where people--patients and works alike--need positive things.

*In what way(s) does positive thinking guide your daily living?
Some days it's really hard to think positive, I have to confess. Especially after the recent sudden and tragic loss I just experienced. But I try to remember that there is so much good in the world, that there are people who love and care and want nothing more than to share that with those they encounter. And so I try to continue to be that kind of example for others. Even when it's hard or it hurts, as it does so very much for me right now.

* You have affiliates who have joined in and are spreading goodness in other states. For those interested how do they become an affiliate of Secret Agent L?
Just drop me an email and I'll hook you up with everything you need.

* Do you have any advice for others who want to do kind acts, but are hesitant?
Just imagine how amazing it would feel if you stumbled onto something left by someone who just wanted to brighten your day. That usually helps.

* What's next for Secret Agent L and for the mission of your blog?
My Number Two (Affiliated Agent V) and I have a meeting coming up with someone here in Pittsburgh who works for a very large non-profit, and it's our hope that this individual will help us map out a strategy to make Secret Agent L even bigger than it already is.

Secret Agent L, I thank you for allowing me this time. I thank you for being the kind soul that you are. I thank you for spreading kindness in a time when it is MOST needed. It is an honor and a blessing to know you!

Mia's Gifts

A few weeks ago I sent out the call for cards. These cards were going to an 11 year old child who is currently battling with Crohn's disease. Mia's mom tells me this has been a very devastating time for her daughter. Mia is VERY limited in the things she can now eat. When the flare ups come Mia is in crucial pain and this has depressed her severely.

Many wonderful blog readers and Twitter pals came together to uplift Mia's spirits. I received tons of cards and gifts all in love for Mia. On Saturday 10/10/09 we made our way to the post office to bless Mia with all the love you all sent for her!

We are still receiving cards for Mia and will be sending those off to her as well! We wish to thank everyone who came to Mia's aid. We are so very grateful to have uplifted her along with such loving beings!

Thank You!!

Exhale

Art by William Adolphe Bouguereau

When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would have
not a single bit of talent left and could say,
“I used everything you gave me.”
~ Erma Bombeck

Have you ever exhaled and truly felt the release of anxiety, stress, fear, sorrow or even exhaustion? Recently, this happened to me and I can not begin to say just how freeing it was. Immediately I felt lightened. My entire body gave in as I exhaled away any yucky feelings I may have been holding on to. This in turn, creates an enormous amount of gratitude. that's exactly what happened as I exhaled. I released and in my inhaling I took in so much gratitude.

The above quote speaks for me in volumes! I pray that at the end of my journey here on earth I will honestly be able to say "I gave it all" and He will be proud of me.

Today I Am Grateful:
For release of bad emotions
For the loving family members whom reside within my home
That God truly does answer prayers
For earthly Angels (I am truly surrounded)
For Unconditional Love and Sweet Mercy
For each and every blog reader (even the lurkers) & every podcast listener
For a home filled with love, joy, food, comfort & The Father

Kindness Rules the World

The three pieces of mail above are going out to three very beautiful little girls. Two are currently battling cancer. The third child does not have an illness, but her mom is currently having a hard time financially and asked us if we could send a little something to her daughter for her birthday. Naturally, we said a big fat YES! That is what Afiveoh4uplifting is about. We are about uplifting ANYONE in need. If we can place a smile upon the face of a child or adult, then we are all for it!

There are many others who are doing what we are doing, but in their own way. A beautiful lady over at Operation Smiley Face sends the cutest smiley face pins out to those who request them. She does this from the bottom of her heart and our uplifting family simply admire her. If you get a chance bounce over to her site and see for yourselves how she's making a difference through love and kindness. It's truly marvelous!

Ways To Make A Difference

My family and I have been talking and since we have made it to our 2 year anniversary, which is Amazing! We now want to make this site more interactive. We want to share with you more than what we're doing with our ministry. We want you to truly get to know who we are. We'll be posting about joyful stories of others, we'll be highlighting other fabulous people who are making a difference (be it BIG or small) and we'll constantly keep you informed on how YOU can make a difference by doing ONE nice thing per day!

Today we're going to give you a few suggestions on how YOU can make a difference!

1. Visit Make A Child Smile and send a card to one of their featured kids. It will only cost you .44 cents!

2. Smile at a stranger just because - You will make a difference

3. Email or Mail family, friends and neighbors POSITIVE quotes

4. Volunteer your time. Maybe an hour to a shelter or your children's school.

5. Bring cards and lollipops with you to a doctor's visit or at the post office even. (you decide)

There are literally millions of ways to make a difference. It does NOT have to be about how much money you have or don't have. It's about what's truly in your heart. Start with these five suggestions and see if they make a difference in the lives of others, but also in your life. Let us know!

It's Our Anniversary!!

17 years ago Today I first felt the call to "Make A Difference" in the lives of others. I started by getting my family, neighbors and friends to donate clothing and can goods to local homeless shelters in New Orleans. It was an off and on battle, because my heart was in it 100%, but that was not the case for everyone else. On this day in 2007 after being inspired through a friend I made a life changing decision. I would NEVER again allow the behavior of others to determine what my destiny would be. On October 1, 2007 with the support and contributions of my husband and daughter we formed "A FiveOh4 Uplifting." Within these past 2 years we've delivered and mailed over 8,000 goody bags. We've even been blessed to send goody bags to children in South Africa! Although, finances are rough for everyone we have been blessed to have a handful of dedicated, loyal and loving supporters. Our family ministry is here to stay! We (as a family) have made an oath that no matter what happens in this world WE will do whatever we Humanly Can to ALWAYS uplift those in need. What a joyous ride we are on!

We are giving away an AWESOME gift today, so let us know you were here in the comment section and YOU may be our lucky anniversary winner!!!

PS...It's also my 1 year anniversary for my blog "I Choose Bliss!", so pop on over and let me know you were there as well!

A few gifts going out today (:
